Individual Psychotherapy

“To accept one’s past—one’s history—is not the same thing as drowning in it; it is learning how to use it.”

— James Baldwin

About me

Welcome.

I’m a mental health therapist specializing in attachment and relationship issues. My hope is to help people have better relationships with others, and with themselves.

I help people get to the bottom of their difficulties so that they can continue to move forward and create meaningful lives and satisfying relationships. People show up to therapy because they are in pain. Something in their lives is not working, and they are ready to explore their pain, face what they usually avoid, and take action to make their lives better. Whether it’s painful depression, overwhelming anxiety, barriers (“walls”) to emotional to closeness with others, or other self-defeating relationship/attachment patterns, we will work together to uncover the root cause, face the painful feelings together, and heal old wounds that are keeping you stuck and suffering. In the process, we will aim to increase self awareness, emotional intelligence, and your ability to connect more deeply with self and others.

Before starting in private practice, I worked in a non-profit mental health setting where I provided psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and children presenting with a variety of issues including PTSD/ trauma, anxiety, depression, and cultural/sexual identity issues. During this time I specialized in working with those suffering from co-occurring mental health issues and substance use/addiction.

My style of therapy can be described as actively engaged, collaborative and compassionately challenging. I believe that we find relief when we gather the courage to turn towards our pain rather than run from it. It takes strength to reach out for help, and I have the deepest respect for those individuals and couples willing to commit to this work. If you are ready to invest in your personal growth, healing and relationships, I look forward to working with you.

In addition to being a therapist, I am also a husband and father. I am a lifetime learner committed to continued growth both as a clinician and as a person.
