Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What is your fee for psychotherapy?

My current fee per 50 minute session is $160 for individuals, $175 for couples. The first appointment is considered an intake assessment where we will meet for 90 minutes to discuss the issues that you are seeking help with, as well as your hopes and goals for therapy. Then, together we will decide on a treatment plan that will help you achieve these goals. My current fee for the initial intake assessment is $200.

Do you take insurance?

I am an in-network provider with Premera, Kaiser Core/PPO and First Choice. I am an out-of-network provider for all other insurance companies. Upon request, I will provide you with a receipt for payment and services for you to submit for possible reimbursement. Check with your insurance company to find out more about your out-of-network coverage before our first session.

How long does therapy usually take?

The short answer is, it depends. My priority is that therapy is efficient and effective, but not rushed. While the duration of treatment varies based on your goals and presenting issues, research indicates that 16 sessions can be an effective length of time to achieve best results. I recommend we begin here, and continue to reassess as needed. Therapy is an investment in yourself and in your relationships, and this work does require a commitment of time and money.

Why do you video record therapy sessions?

Video taping is an integral aspect of how I work and allows for the most precise review of what arises in therapy. Video taping allows for close and accurate review of the effectiveness of our sessions. In addition to self review, video provides me the opportunity to take our work to an expert in the field in order to get more help and an outside perspective on our work together. It is of the utmost importance to me that I am offering you the best and most efficient service that I can, and outside clinical supervision is essential to how I ensure this.  This, of course, is not mandatory but it is useful. Videos are considered part of a clinical record, are protected by HIPAA and will require your consent.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for those who cannot afford the full fee. My sliding scale slots are currently full. Please inquire about being added to my waitlist.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 48 hours notice for session cancellations. If I receive less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged for the missed session. Exceptions to this include medical emergencies, and situations in which we are able to reschedule within the week (pending session availability).

Do you offer phone or video appointments?

Yes. I am able to provide both phone and video appointments. I use a HIPAA compliant platform called Simple Practice to conduct Telehealth video appointments.

Do you offer free consultation sessions?

Yes, I offer a free 10-20 minute phone consultation.

Please note: Initial assessment is 90 minutes, all ongoing sessions are 50 minutes. Initially, I see clients weekly. My fee increases annually, based in part on my advanced training.
